The Alliance for a Viable Future
We are living in unprecedented times. The Alliance for a Viable Future brings together leaders, activists, and visionaries to respond with courage, compassion, and creativity.
AVF exists to build alliances and develop leadership for bioregional climate solutions and intercultural peacemaking in the Berkshires and throughout the Northeast. We build trust, collective vision, and strategies for navigating the challenges of our time–grounded in place, guided by spirit, and made real through collective action.
Join us in co-creating
a regenerative culture & economy
that we can truly depend on.

OUR CORE PROGRAMS
The AVF Leadership Cohort
Our signature yearlong program gathers a diverse circle of changemakers from across the Northeast. Together, we cultivate the skills, relationships, and vision needed to lead in times of disruption and possibility.
Rooted in deep relationship, this circle is more than a program—it is a growing movement of aligned partners who recognize that the challenges we face are complex, interconnected, and impossible to solve in isolation. From climate instability to cultural fragmentation, the path forward requires trust, collaboration, and a shared commitment to the wellbeing of people and planet.
Rights of Nature 101 Webinar Series
What if Nature had rights? Join us for a webinar series exploring the global movement to recognize ecosystems as living entities with rights. Learn from regional organizers, groundbreaking campaigns, and Indigenous leaders honoring Earth as a living relative.
This series offers an engaging introduction to the legal, cultural, and spiritual foundations of the movement–rooted in the belief that protecting nature begins with recognizing its inherent right to exist, thrive, and evolve.

AVF is proud to serve as the official organizer of Indigenous Peoples’ Day in Berkshire County, MA. Since 2020, AVF has hosted ceremonies, councils, and public events that honor Native voices, foster intertribal and community alliances, and deepen our shared commitment to a just and regenerative future.
In recent years, Indigenous Peoples’ Day weekend has included powerful gatherings, such as Indigenous peacemaking councils, nurturing intertribal and intercommunity relationships that continue beyond the day itself.
NEW BOOK BY AVF FOUNDER
The Tao Te Ching is an ancient classic by Lao Tzu. A source of timeless wisdom, it guides us to be rooted in a deep awareness of unity as the way to gracefully navigate the chaos and complexity of life.
The Tao of Movement Building applies the essential principles of the Tao – listening deeply, allowing nature to unfold of its own accord,
and understanding paradox – to the work of changemaking.
“Movements that truly nourish equity, justice, holistic health, and well being; are rooted in sacred silence.”
by Lev Natan, AVF Founder & Executive Director
