Rooted in nature’s wisdom, the Alliance for a Viable Future is a growing mycelial network of bioregional partners. We are building trust, collective vision, and emergent strategies to navigate the complexities of these poignant times.
Inspired by a vision of the interconnected root system of forests, we are weaving a latticework of organizational partners and community changemakers who care deeply about the sacredness of life and a viable future for the children and generations to come.
At a time when business-as-usual has less and less to offer in the way of intelligent pathways to navigate the complex, complicated and confusing landscapes that we are facing, we are turning to a deeper faith in the wisdom of natural systems - like the Rhizosphere.
What is the Rhizosphere?
In ecological terms, the rhizosphere, is the narrow region of soil surrounding and influenced by plant roots. This is no ordinary dirt. It is a teeming underground network—a relational zone of microbes, mycelium, minerals, and enzymes constantly exchanging nutrients, signals, and support. Through this web of interbeing, trees and plants communicate, nourish one another, and adapt to their environment in real time.
Alliance for a Viable Future is an experiment in social biomimicry. In other words, we are guided by the wisdom of nature, like the aliveness, intelligence, & dynamic resilience that we see in the rhizosphere. We choose to trust in a deep intuition that a viable pathway into our collective future will emerge through the process of sitting together in circles of partnership.
