How your financial donation makes a difference
By generously offering your financial support, you ensure IPD continues to be a staple in the Berkshires community.
Since 2020, Alliance for a Viable Future has become the official organizer for Indigenous Peoples’ Day (IPD) in the Berkshries.
why this matters to you
Partnering with us says that your business / organization is an ally of indigenous people; specifically the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohicans, the original inhabitants of the Berkshires.
Honoring Indigenous People’s Day is a step toward healing, truth and reconciliation in response to the immense harm of colonization done to Indigenous people. Building a green, regenerative economy includes repairing the roots of our destructive past economic & social systems.
Our mission at Alliance for a Viable Future (AVF)
AVF develops leadership and builds alliance for bioregional climate solutions and intercultural peacemaking in the Berkshires and throughout the Northeast.
We are building a network of indigenous creators, community businesses & organizations, spiritual leaders, activists, and thought-leaders to engage citizens throughout the Berkshires and the entire Northeast in a collective effort to amplify our bioregional climate leadership.
Our climate emergency requires grassroots solutions - organizations and businesses working hand-in-hand, with each other, to solve local problems and fuel positive impact. Systemic racism and the climate crisis are two sides of the same multifaceted coin - a result of the long history of colonialism that disregards people and the planet. By working to foster unity and reconciliation, we are working to create climate solutions that start with empowering people, healing communities, and connecting the dots between issues that we have been incorrectly taught are unrelated.
