Nearly half of our country’s youth report experiencing persistent feelings of hopelessness and sadness.

Suicide is the second leading cause of death among young people, and depression, anxiety, and illicit substance abuse are on a steep rise, especially among high school students. The devastating losses of this year have only exacerbated these issues.

These trends have two deeper root causes:

1. Youth do not feel connected to a sense of belonging, meaning, and purpose within mainstream culture and education; and
2. They sense the harrowing truth of the climate crisis and what it means for their future.

What if high school students had a supportive place to share stories about what they’re going through and their honest fears about their uncertain future?

What if they had a space to envision a hopeful future and map out how they can progressively manifest it?

What if students were empowered to adopt healthy habits and contribute to climate solutions?

What if we supported youth to transform their anxiety into courage to make the seemingly impossible, possible?
